The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targets to achieve peace and prosperity for people and the planet. 2020 marked the Decade of Action — reaffirming these goals and accelerating efforts to transform societies and move sustainable solutions forward.

PAGE is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in many ways, especially with SDGs that relate to the economy, jobs, the environment and partnerships — supporting governments to work across sectors and to seek the integration of policies and strategies that will enable them to achieve multiple sustainable development targets through an inclusive green economy approach. With the COVID-19 pandemic, PAGE is further committed to supporting partners in accelerating action on the goals, aligning recovery strategies and protecting the gains already made.

"The COVID-19 crisis has emphasized the bedrock principles enshrined in the SDGs and revealed that they are sound: we must approach issues in an integrated way. A partnership like PAGE is needed now more than ever."

The High Level Political Forum meets annually with a central role in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level. To reinforce these goals, and to launch PAGE’s complementary 2021-2030 Strategy, PAGE held an official side event, Green Economy and COVID-19 Recovery: and Implications for the Decade of Action, gathering leaders from UN agencies and national ministries to call for renewed commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and advocating for a green economic recovery from COVID-19.  Further aligning the PAGE mission together with the sustainability and climate agendas, PAGE launched its Strategy 2021-2030 during this event, marking a renewed commitment to grow its reach over the next 10 years.
